The Black Griffin is Canterbury's go-to pub for fantastic live entertainment throughout the week. You'll find a lively atmosphere built around regular events, including our always-popular weekly pub quiz, where teams battle it out for prizes and bragging rights every Monday from 7:30pm.
We are dedicated supporters of local talent and host a brilliant Open Mic Night, giving musicians and performers the stage to showcase their skills. Furthermore, we regularly book high-quality live music acts, from acoustic sets to full bands, ensuring there's always a great soundtrack to your evening. Keep an eye on our events board or social media for the exact dates and times—come for a drink, stay for the show! Every Wednesday from 8 'til late.
Play your favourite tunes on our jukebox completelty free of charge every Thursday, and bond with our community about the artists and songs that you love most.

At The Black Griffin, we take our cask beer seriously, offering a rotating selection of three real ales kept in peak condition. Our pumps feature a mix of legendary national favourites like London Pride and Dark Star, alongside a dedicated rotation of local guest ales from Kentish favourites. This is one of the main thoroughfares linking the historic Westgate Towers end of the city to the central High Street and shopping districts, making us incredibly easy to find whether you are a local or a visitor. We are just a short, pleasant walk from both Canterbury West and Canterbury East train stations, as well as the main bus stops and the popular riverside area.
